Honda rebuilt transmission12/24/2023 ![]() ![]() To avoid these problems you must completely force flush your transmission every 15,000 to 20,000 miles and add new fluid specified by the manufacturer. Depending on how long the problem exists, you can also have shaft breakdown where more hard parts need to be installed. If the problem gets that far then the repair job requires that the transmission needs to be rebuilt. This causes overheating of the transmission which causes the torque converter to break down. Clutch deterioration caused the transmission to become contaminated and the filter to get clogged too quickly. Honda CR-V transmissions are the second leading cause for major repairs in the 2002 2008 models which include clutches and torque converters. Since then Honda has installed much better transmissions in the Odyssey. Honda tried to install a better cooling return line but that didn't really address the larger issues of massive breakdowns. The Honda Odyssey Minivan transmission from 1999 to 2010 has a history of major repairs due to bad manufacturing and weak transmission parts. Another remedy was to have the transmission completely flushed at several intervals to lessen the impact of debris plugging up the filter. In some cases an auxiliary cooling system was added to lower the temperatures but this was just putting a bandaid on an existing problem. and causes the transmission to run hot all the time and ultimately fail requiring a rebuild job. The manufacturing of these transmissions failed to provide any access to the filters which become gunked up with debris, metal shavings etc. In 2004 Honda began recalling these defective Civics and Accords and repaired the transmission at no cost to the vehicle's owners.Īt our transmission repair shop in Fort Lauderdale, Tamarac, and Sunrise, we have noticed that very early Honda Accords right up to 2009 models including the 4WD, automatic and manual (standard) transmissions required transmission repairs related to complete failure of the system usually between 70,000 miles to 125,000 miles. If this problem is not repaired then the transmission will burn up the fluid designed to lubricate the gears and then transmission will seize up requiring a complete rebuilt transmission. Luckily, manual Honda transmissions do not have this problem because the clutch takes the place of the function the torque converter performs. The Honda Civic transmission from 2000 - 2004 had torque converter problems that caused shifting problems in automatic transmissions. Honda makes one of the world's best manufactured automobiles in the world but just like other cars and trucks the transmission will eventually need repairs or rebuilt transmission service over time.
